Having dreams is what makes life tolerable.

Hi there! I am Zilin, a Computer Science DPhil student at the University of Oxford in the WhiRL and FLAIR labs. I am fortunate to be co-supervised by Professor Shimon Whiteson and Professor Jakob Foerster. I previously received a Master’s degree from Tsinghua University, supervised by Prof. Zhiyong Wu. Before that, I did my undergraduate studies at Dalian University of Technology.

My research focuses on efficient and real-world impactful Deep Reinforcement Learning (RL), with an emphasis on scalable RL systems for Autonomous Driving (AD).

From an autonomous driving perspective, I work on simulation (traffic) agents, sensor input synthesis, reward shaping, and RL algorithms tailored to safety-critical driving environments.

From the reinforcement learning perspective, I am particularly interested in leveraging offline datasets and pretrained policies, as well as developing methods that enable scalable and data-efficient Deep RL.

Personal Interests

In my spare time, I enjoy running, hiking, badminton, fitness, anime, and video games. Additionally, I am a polyglot; apart from my mother tongue Mandarin, I also speak English and Japanese. I love learning new languages because I believe they're like gates to new worlds!
